Have you ever fixed a bike tire by yourself? Or saved a plant from dying by planting it into a bigger pot and taking care of it? Made basil pesto by yourself?.. all pretty easy things if you know how to do it or you just try it out, give your best and be astonished of the outcome.
The first thing I want to talk about is my basil plant. I found it in the biological trash in my shared flat .. it was completely dried out but was still alive.. I took a new pot for it, watered it deeply and after a few days new stems came out.. just remember to give it a little bit of water and sun every 3 days and it will grow just by itself without adding anything else. The basil plant likes to get the water onto their roots and not their heads so that is the second thing to remember. The outcome is unbelievable, because with a few small leave you can add flavor to all mediterranean dishes and besides that it carries essential oils for your health.
Besides that you will have a great harvest of basil leaves which you can directly use to make pesto out of it. Take a hand full pine nuts, at 2 hands of basil leaves, 1 hand of grated parmesan cheese, a pinch of salt, 2 garlic cloves and half a cup of olive oil – put all the ingredients into a mixer and enjoy finest, self-made pesto just by nature and you. Not any chemical additive will poison your food because you are the maker. To make this pesto it will take you about 5 minutes, less time than going to any store or fast restaurant and buying something. Try out this happy fast food!!
The reason I´m talking about that is that a lot of people are arguing that “they don´t have any time money and place for self-made goods.” The only reason for such a statement is that those people are just to lazy to crave for more than their daily life obsessions and daily business,
Yesterday my flatmate told me that it´s my fault that her bike doesn´t work anymore because I used it twice. When I used it, it worked perfectly plus I didn´t have any time to look at it the moment she told me about it. But still I figured out that the wheel isn´t inflatable any more; she told me she tried to pump it up at the gas station. Going to a cycle shop I figured out that she probably pumped it up more than 3 air pressure which made the valve break.. happens pretty easy at the gas station 😉
I bought a new tube for the wheel and it was my first time to put it in by myself. Well, you just have to remove the outside wheel, put in the new tube, put the wheel back and pump it up to 3 bar air pressure. Then put the wheel back into the bike holder and install the locking system again.. to be sure, you can watch a youtube video. In the end it took me only 10 minutes. If you leave it at the store they will charge you extra for everything so it is pretty good if you can just do it by yourself.
I know that it is not a hard thing to change a cycle wheel and almost everybody of you knows how to do it but the reason for that story is that it confirmed my motivation for life. It was only small stories i told you and there are so many more.. there will be days where noone can help you and you will be craving to step out and do it by yourself to move forward.. Start right now – Always stay hungry for new input, new experiences, new destinations and new people. They will help you to become who you are, make you richer and improve your life. Believe me, it makes you happy if you can do simple things by yourself without needing anyone´s help. And do it with enthusiasm, with the aim to improve everyday. We are made wise by taking responsibility for our future. It is little details in life that are vital. Little steps are the start of a long jouirney and make big things happen.
